Two Year 10 students have been arrested and charged for allegedly possessing drugs last week, according to police. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu confirmed that the drugs were discovered at the students’ schools.
The two 16-year-old students were found with sachets containing marijuana; one is from a school in Suva, while the other attends a school in Sigatoka. Driu emphasized that drug offenses are considered serious and irreconcilable. He stated, “Anyone found engaging in these acts will be charged, and we will take reports seriously. We stress the importance of parental support in these matters.”
In a separate incident, a 65-year-old woman was also charged and appeared in court after being found with methamphetamine and marijuana on September 15. Driu reported that the drugs were uncovered during a raid at her home in Lautoka, where methamphetamine was found.
