Police are currently investigating the death of a 15-year-old boy from the Tamavua-i-Wai informal settlement, but they have been unable to confirm the cause of death due to the condition of the body. According to a statement from Fiji One News, forensic teams are conducting DNA analysis as part of their efforts to identify the remains and clarify the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s untimely demise.
The young boy had been reported missing on Christmas Eve after he left his home accompanied by a group of friends, headed toward Suva. His remains were discovered by his uncle approximately ten meters uphill from their home in the Tamavua-i-Wai area.
Police have acknowledged that the state of the remains is hindering their ability to determine the cause of death at this moment. Investigators are actively working to gather additional information as forensic examinations continue.
The loss of a young life is always tragic, prompting a community response to support the grieving family during this extremely difficult time. As investigations proceed, there is hope that answers can be provided to bring some closure to those affected.
