The Waidamudamu Golf Group kicked off the new year with camaraderie as they gathered for a round of golf at the Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa, Suva. This social gathering was an opportunity for members to enjoy light-hearted moments on the course.
Key attendees included Speaker of Parliament Filimone Jitoko and Indonesian Ambassador Dupito Simamora. Group president Sai Tokalau noted that while some members were able to participate, others were absent from the festivities. Tokalau also took a moment to reflect on the group’s charitable activities in the previous year, emphasizing their commitment to philanthropy.
“Our group has always been charitable throughout the year. Whatever we collect at every golf game, we distribute it to charities,” Tokalau stated. This past year, they donated to notable organizations such as Dilkusha Home, Homes of Hope, and the Chevalier Boys Hostel. He expressed optimism about increasing their charitable contributions in the coming year, stating, “The initiative was good; the direction was good and hopefully this year we will double it up.”
Tokalau highlighted the diverse makeup of the group, which includes members from various ethnic backgrounds and holds significant positions in government and society. He mentioned that among the members are ambassadors and even the Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka.
As of now, there are no golf tournaments scheduled until next month, but the warm community spirit showcased by the Waidamudamu Golf Group promises an exciting year ahead.
