In a vibrant display of athletic talent, the Team Headquarters (HQ) emerged victorious in both the netball and volleyball competitions at the Fiji Police Women Inter-Formation Tournament held in Suva. The event, which spanned two action-packed days, saw HQ clinch the netball title by defeating Central Division 20-16 in a tightly contested final. In volleyball, HQ showcased their dominance by winning against Southern Division in straight sets, thereby denying them the opportunity for a third set.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Salaseini Vakatuturagani, the deputy national coordinator of the Fiji Police Women’s Network, expressed her excitement at the growing competitiveness of the tournament this year. She noted an influx of promising new talent, stating, “It’s another level compared to past years; there are so many young talented players participating in this two-day event.”
In addition to the competition outcomes, the tournament served as a platform for selecting the netball and volleyball teams that will represent the Fiji Police Force at the upcoming Sukuna Bowl. ASP Vakatuturagani conveyed her optimism regarding these teams’ potential to defend their titles in the prestigious tournament.
The success of the event was made possible thanks to the collective efforts of the Commissioner of Police, senior officers, police wives, and families of the officers, all of whom contributed to the tournament’s organization and atmosphere.
This year’s tournament reflected not only the athletes’ commitment to excellence in sport but also highlighted the spirit of camaraderie and support that exists within the Fiji Police community.
