Joji Nasova, the Team Fiji men’s 7s rugby winger, confidently stated “The boys have done the hard yards” as they departed on their journey for a third consecutive Olympic gold medal. The 23-year-old sportsman from Toge, Ba, made his debut at the Hong Kong 7s tournament earlier this year and played in Beijing, China, last year. He represents the Dominion Brothers Rugby Club.
Acknowledging the pressure and high expectations, he said the team has worked hard for their ultimate aim – defending the Olympic gold. Joji expressed his gratitude to the coaches for their faith in him and the opportunity to compete in the grandest international tournament, the Olympics.
As a back-to-back champion in the 7s sport, Fiji expects another gold from its team. Joji pledged their effort towards repeating the win. The player has previously contributed to a gold win at the Pacific Games in the Solomon Islands last year. His remarkable performance in the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament led to his inclusion in the national 7s main squad.
Joji Nasova is related to another 7s player, Kaminieli Rasaku, and a former national 7s player, Ponipate Kato. His journey and the team’s overall efforts can be followed on The Fiji Times website.
