Team Fiji gathered for a heartfelt final church service at the World Harvest Centre in Kinoya as they prepared for their journey to the 2025 Pacific Mini Games in Palau. Josaia Tuinamata, Team Fiji’s Chef de Mission, expressed joy at the gathering of athletes from diverse backgrounds for a unifying English church service. Despite logistical challenges preventing all 186 athletes from attending, 95 showed up, exuding enthusiasm as they anticipatively awaited their departure.
“I am pleased to see everyone in high spirits as we prepare to leave on Thursday evening for Nadi,” Tuinamata shared. He confirmed that a charter flight scheduled to depart at 7 AM on Friday would transport the team to the exciting two-week competition, while additional members would follow on a Saturday flight.
With athletes poised to compete in 12 sports—including Archery, Swimming, Basketball, and Weightlifting—Team Fiji is keen to showcase their talents on this prominent international stage. The games, which run from June 29 to July 9, 2025, provide much more than competitive opportunities; they symbolize national pride and the collective hope of representing Fiji honorably.
The gathering aligns with the greater enthusiasm shown in prior articles detailing Team Fiji’s preparations. Earlier reports highlighted a robust structure organizing the team, reflecting a solid commitment to fostering a supportive environment for athletes. For instance, community fundraising initiatives and encouragement from Ministry officials have bolstered morale.
As Team Fiji embarks on this adventure, the strong sense of unity and support from across Fiji creates an optimistic outlook for the upcoming games. The athletes are not only eager to compete but also enthusiastic about bringing home success while fostering camaraderie and showcasing their pride in being Fijian.
