The Ministry of Education has successfully processed salary upgrades for approximately 250 teachers during the previous financial year, which could have significant financial impacts amounting to $4.1 million. Education Minister Aseri Radrodro addressed the issue raised by Opposition MP Premila Kumar regarding why educators who had improved their qualifications were not receiving corresponding salary adjustments.
Radrodro emphasized the completion of two crucial policy initiatives in collaboration with the Civil Service. The first involved the Coalition Government’s directive for the regularization and advancement of eligible positions in the Civil Service set for February 2024. He mentioned that a total of 395 teachers have been recognized as eligible for qualification upgrades and subsequent salary revisions, which would incur an added financial burden of $4.1 million.
Discussions are currently underway to submit proposals aimed at facilitating these salary adjustments in the upcoming year.
