Teachers in Fiji Get Major Pay Boost: What It Means for Education

The Ministry of Education has distributed a total of $988,648.30 as part of the final payment for 2024, aimed at teachers who have achieved enhanced teaching qualifications in line with the Teacher Remuneration Policy. This significant financial allocation underscores the Ministry’s dedication to fostering a skilled and experienced teaching workforce.

Education Minister Aseri Radrodro expressed that this timely financial assistance reflects the Coalition Government’s commitment to excellence in education. He highlighted that the increase in remuneration will result in a cumulative cost of $2.3 million for the 2024-2025 financial year. Teachers meeting the requisite qualifications will be permanently elevated to either Band E, Step 1 or Band F, Step 3 within the Fiji Civil Service pay scale.

Radrodro emphasized the pivotal role teachers play within the education system and noted that their hard work is duly recognized through this initiative.
