A recent investigation into the suspended Director of Public Prosecutions, Christopher Pryde, has revealed that a total of $88,597 in taxpayer funds was utilized during the tribunal’s proceedings. The final report presented to the President disclosed that $59,400 was allocated for sitting allowances. The tribunal, which was chaired by Justice Anare Tuilevuka and included Justice Chaitanya Lakshman and Justice Samuela Qica, also had three lawyers providing support. However, the report did not specify how these funds were distributed among those involved.

In addition, $14,253 was spent on accommodation, while $8,132 was allocated for the allowances of investigators, with another $4,515 spent on meals for the investigative team. The investigative team consisted of Sanjay Singh and Inoke Cokanasiga. Further expenditures included $1,405 for refreshments.

The tribunal conducted 29 briefings from March to November 2024, culminating in hearings held from December 2 to December 6, 2024, where 24 witnesses were called to testify. Ultimately, the findings released from the tribunal cleared Christopher Pryde of any wrongdoing, leading the President to revoke his suspension.

This outcome underscores a commitment to transparency and due process within the judicial system, and it highlights the importance of thorough investigations in maintaining public trust. As the matter has been resolved, it paves the way for Mr. Pryde to return to his duties, reinstating stability in the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. This resolution can be seen as a positive development for all parties involved, emphasizing the value of fair investigations in upholding justice.

In summary, the tribunal found no wrongdoing on the part of Christopher Pryde, thus reinstating him and affirming the integrity of the judicial process.
