A 21-year-old man has been sentenced to one year and 11 months in prison after being found guilty of robbing a taxi driver last year. Rusiate Vakaloloma received his sentence from Justice Siainiu Fa’alogo Bull in the High Court in Suva last month.

In her ruling, Justice Bull expressed concern over the increase in violent and armed robberies against taxi and public service drivers, describing them as a significant problem. She opted not to suspend the sentence, emphasizing the seriousness of the crime.
