Manasa Nawakula scored a dramatic goal in the 104th minute, leading Tavua to a 1-0 victory over Nasinu in the Premier Division final of the 2024 FMF Inter District Championship (IDC) at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

The highly anticipated match remained scoreless through the standard 90 minutes despite both teams creating various scoring opportunities.

Nawakula, a seasoned player and former national team defender, took charge midway through the first half of extra time, skillfully placing the ball past Nasinu’s goalkeeper, Emori Ragata.

Nasinu, featuring young talents like Maikah Dau and Raul Chandra, along with experienced players Jone Naraba and Nasoni Mereki, fought earnestly for an equalizer. However, Tavua’s solid defensive performance proved crucial as they held on until the final whistle to secure the championship title.

For their victory, Tavua was awarded $6,000, while Nasinu walked away with $2,000 in prize money.
