This initiative aims to fortify vulnerable riverbanks and shield nearby settlements from the threat of recurring floods, a promise made by Minister for Information Lynda Tabuya during a recent Town Hall meeting in Tavua, conducted by the Fijian Media Association.
In her address, Tabuya mentioned the completion of emergency clearing in the Tagitagi Creek, which occurred in mid-2025. This action was taken to mitigate localized flooding and safeguard homes from potential water damage. The Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to fortifying community resilience through vital infrastructure investments designed to protect lives and livelihoods from flooding impacts and riverbank erosion.
