Tavua FC Aims for Redemption Against Labasa in Crucial League Clash

Newcomers Tavua FC are preparing for a challenging match in the Extra Premier League as they face Labasa today. Vice-president Hirendra Kumar acknowledges the difficulties his team will encounter playing away against the Babasiga Lions, especially considering the strong support Labasa receives at home.

After suffering a 0-3 defeat to Nadi in their opening game, Kumar believes that administrative issues were primarily to blame for the loss, particularly the late registration of four key players. “We had some administrative problems, and our first match with many new officers was a tough adjustment,” he explained.

However, he is optimistic as the team has resolved these issues and all players are now registered. “We have trained well under head coach Shawal Prasad, and the players are looking forward to giving their best performance against Labasa,” Kumar added. The coach is supported by technical director Nazeel Ali and strength and conditioning coach George Ravula.

The match will kick off at 1:30 PM at Subrail Park. In related news, other fixtures in round two of the league include Navua battling Nasinu and Nadi hosting Suva, while the encounter between Rewa and Lautoka has been postponed due to several Rewa players being selected for the national team traveling to New Zealand.

Given the challenges faced by Tavua FC, this game serves as an opportunity for the team to showcase their resilience and capability on the field. With recent administrative hurdles cleared, there’s hope that they can turn their fortunes around and build momentum for the season.
