Tavua Coach Eyes Dual Role in Crucial Playoff Showdown

Tavua coach Dr. Diva Singh is set to take on a dual role in the crucial Digicel Senior League final playoff against Bua on Saturday. Dr. Singh, who is a reliable midfielder, may fill in for Captain Malakai Tiwa, who received a red card during the first leg of the final at Subrail Park in Labasa, which Bua won 1-0.

Although Dr. Singh has not participated in a match since becoming the coach, he is prepared to meet the challenge. In an interview, he emphasized the importance of hard work for his team, stating that they need to win by two clear goals despite having the home ground advantage.

Dr. Singh noted, “We need to focus on our style of play and emphasize mental preparation. Home ground will always be an advantage, but the boys must step up.” He expressed concern about filling the void left by Captain Tiwa, saying that anyone stepping into his position will have significant responsibility.

“I have been training with the team all season but have not played yet. If necessary, I could play for Tavua for the last time on Saturday. This match is crucial as it will determine our future status. We are eager to reclaim our position in the Premier Division, and we understand the challenges ahead,” he added.

He also called on Tavua fans to come out and support the team, expressing confidence in their ability to achieve victory. Bua, on the other hand, only needs a draw to secure the title and a place in the Premier Division, while Tavua must win by two goals to advance. If Tavua wins 1-0, the match will go into extra time, and the winner could be decided by penalty kicks if no further goals are scored.
