The Holy Cross College U15 team received enthusiastic support from a large crowd of fans who traveled from Taveuni for their quarter-final match against Suva Grammar School in Suva yesterday. The atmosphere at Buckhurst Park was vibrant, with supporters proudly donning their school t-shirts in a sea of green.
Asenca Bogitolu, a parent of one of the players, shared that they arrived on the mainland on Wednesday and are currently staying at the Vatuwaqa parish. “We are thrilled that Holy Cross College has reached the Dean’s quarterfinals for the first time,” she said. “This achievement is significant for us.”
Bogitolu expressed gratitude for the backing the team has received during the tournament, noting the strong support from the community throughout their preparation. “There has been tremendous support for the boys during their preparation. We encountered several challenges, but we are grateful for the encouragement, especially from our old scholars. Fundraisers and Kava barrels helped us get here.”
She emphasized that the coordination of their t-shirts was a way to show solidarity. “Regardless of the outcome, we are proud to have made it to the quarter-finals.”
