Taveuni Burglary Sparks Urgent Call for Enhanced Home Security

The Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, has urged property owners to implement necessary security measures following a reported burglary at an estate in Taveuni last week. Driu stated that K9 officers quickly managed to track and apprehend a suspect after the Taveuni Police Station received a call about the break-in. A team of K9 officers was dispatched to the scene.

“Upon arrival, the K9 team was able to track the suspect, leading to an arrest and the recovery of alleged stolen items,” Mr. Driu explained. The suspect is currently in custody as investigations are ongoing.

Driu noted that some incidents showed no signs of forced entry, indicating that the properties may have been left unlocked. He emphasized the need for vigilance, as neglecting home security can often result in burglaries.
