Tau Sports Limited (TSL), a prominent manufacturer of sports, corporate, and uniform wear, has proudly inaugurated a new outlet at the MHCC complex in Suva. The company’s owner, Awadei Veeriah Gnanarajah, disclosed that the investment in the new facility amounted to nearly $500,000, reflecting the company’s commitment to recovery and growth following the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the pandemic, TSL had to make the difficult decision to close three of their outlets to maintain operations. However, the reopening of this new outlet signifies a positive step forward, aimed at enhancing accessibility and service for customers. Mr. Gnanarajah announced that future plans include the establishment of a new outlet in Nadi, targeting western customers and expanding export opportunities.
Tau Sports has a significant presence in Fiji’s sportswear market, supplying attire for major events like the annual Sukuna Bowl. Mr. Gnanarajah expressed gratitude for the success of the business, highlighting that they generated over $100,000 in revenue through Sukuna Bowl merchandise alone in the wake of the pandemic.
In anticipation of next year’s back-to-school shopping season, TSL is preparing offers for 72 different school uniforms available at the MHCC location, which will be open daily from 9 AM to 7 PM.
Kamal Chetty, CEO of Investment Fiji, attended the opening and commended the company’s resilience and growth in the local market. He underscored the government’s support for such local manufacturing ventures, which help to enhance the value of Fijian products.
Founded in 2010, Tau Sports is a fully locally owned brand and forms part of a larger group of companies led by Mr. Gnanarajah, specializing in creating custom sports garments and merchandise.
As TSL embarks on this new chapter with the opening of their outlet, it not only highlights a successful recovery from the pandemic but also opens new doors for local employment and supports the community through their offerings. The positive momentum from their achievements positions them as an encouraging example for other businesses in Fiji as the market continues to evolve.
