Taras Supermarket has been named the primary sponsor for the upcoming 2025 Tailevu Rugby Union 10s Tournament Championship. The sponsorship, valued at $3,000, includes $2,500 in cash and $500 worth of in-kind support. A formal handover ceremony took place in Nausori, marking this as a significant moment for both Taras Supermarket and the Tailevu Rugby Union.
During the ceremony, Amish Patel, the Managing Director of Taras Supermarket, conveyed his pride and commitment to the Tailevu rugby community. He stated, “Rugby in Tailevu is not just a sport, it is an identity, a unifier, and a force for development,” underscoring the importance of the tournament beyond mere competition. Patel emphasized that their support is an investment in the lives of community members and showcases the transformative power of sport.
This sponsorship aligns with the broader goals of the newly elected President of Tailevu Rugby Union, Joseph Rodan Snr, who shared plans for sustainable community development through rugby from 2025 to 2030. He pointed out that the contributions from sponsors, including Taras Supermarket, would be recognized through the Union’s communications channels, enhancing visibility for their support.
The event celebrated not only the sponsorship, but also recognized the contributions of other businesses that are co-sponsoring the tournament, including Hussain Tabaraki Bread Shop and Nausori Meats. Malakai Yamaivava, Chairman of the Tailevu Rugby Union Club Games Competition, expressed gratitude towards Taras Supermarket for their unwavering support toward the Vanua o Tailevu.
This partnership signifies a commitment to enhancing grassroots sports and community development in the region, instilling a sense of hope and unity through rugby. With the event on the horizon, there is a palpable excitement within the community, as all eyes turn to the tournament, which promises to further enrich the local sporting landscape.
