Former Flying Fijians and All Blacks center Setareki Tamanivalu celebrated a significant milestone by scoring a try in his 50th appearance for Toshiba Brave Lupus in the Japanese League One. The 32-year-old opened the scoring in a thrilling match against the Kobe Steelers, which ended with a close score of 32-26 in favor of the Brave Lupus.

Tamanivalu’s contribution was not limited to just scoring; he also set up another try with a well-placed kick, showcasing his all-around skills on the field. His first try came from a clever move initiated by teammate Shannon Frizell, who, from a lineout near the opposition’s 22, delivered a quick pass that allowed Tamanivalu to put his team ahead early.

In addition to Tamanivalu’s performance, fellow Fijian and Japan XVs winger Jone Naikabula also made a significant impact by scoring two tries in a challenging match. His second try in the second half ultimately proved to be the decisive moment that secured the victory for the defending champions.

The Brave Lupus lineup included notable players such as Captain Michael Leitch and Samuela Anise, while the Steelers featured notable players like Inoke Burua, Waisake Raratubua, and Michael Little.

This match not only marked a personal achievement for Tamanivalu but also highlighted the strong presence and performance of Fijian players in Japanese rugby, signaling a positive future for the sport within the country.
