Tamanisau’s Golden Return: Fiji’s World Cup Squad Takes Shape!

Evergreen Labasa goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau has secured a spot in the 29-member extended Bula Boys squad for the upcoming matches in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Oceania Qualifiers. The 42-year-old recently earned the Golden Glove award during the 2024 FMF Inter District Championship (IDC), leading the Babasiga Lions to victory in Lautoka.

Joining Tamanisau in the squad are promising striker Christopher Wasasala and reliable defender Sekove Naivakananumi. Nadi goalkeeper Joela Biuvanua has also been included, taking the place of Rewa’s Isikeli Sevanaia who was removed due to disciplinary reasons.

The team is scheduled to begin their training camp on Sunday, October 29, at the Fiji FA Academy in Ba.

The Fiji squad includes: Joela Biuvanua, Simione Tamanisau, Jerome Narayan, Akuila Mateisuva, Filipe Baravilala, Sekove Naivakananumi, Samuela Kautoga, Scott Wara, Sterling Vasconcellos, Antonio Tuivuna, Gabriele Matanisiga, Josh Laqeretabua, Ivan Kumar, Kavaia Rawaqa, Setareki Hughes, Merrill Nand, Rahul Krishna, Sitiveni Cavuilagi, Mohammed Raheem, Tevita Waranaivalu, Dave Radrigai, Leroy Jennings, Aporosa Yada, Nabil Begg, Thomas Dunn, Roy Krishna, Sairusi Nalaubu, Etonia Dogalau, and Christopher Wasasala.
