Tamanisau Triumphs: Veteran Goalkeeper Joins Fiji’s World Cup Squad

Evergreen Labasa goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau has secured a spot in the 29-member extended squad of the Bula Boys for the upcoming matches in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Oceania Qualifiers. At 42 years old, Tamanisau recently earned the Golden Glove award in the 2024 FMF Inter District Championship (IDC) while leading the Babasiga Lions to victory in Lautoka.

In addition to Tamanisau, in-form striker Christopher Wasasala and reliable defender Sekove Naivakananumi have also earned their places in the squad. Nadi goalkeeper Joela Biuvanua has been included as well, replacing Rewa’s Isikeli Sevanaia, who was dropped from the squad due to disciplinary issues.

The team will commence their training camp on Sunday, October 29, at the Fiji FA Academy in Ba.
