Football enthusiasts are in for an exhilarating treat as Tailevu Naitasiri FC prepares to face off against defending champions Rewa FC in the opening round of the Extra Premier League 2026 season this weekend. The much-anticipated match kicks off at 3 PM at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori, marking a riveting start to the new football season as these two fierce rivals clash.

Fiji Football has noted that Tailevu Naitasiri FC returns to the top division with a revitalized squad infused with experienced players. Notable new additions include the former Labasa and Ba striker Ratu Apenisa Anare and former national team midfielder Iosefo Verevou. The revamped team also features experienced defender Joeli Ranitu, striker Misaele Draunibaka, and utility player Ravinesh Karan Singh, along with promising Labasa brothers Salimone Draunibaka and Tukai Ravonokula. Head coach Shabneel Prasad has been diligently preparing a competitive team after successfully leading Tailevu Naitasiri back into the country’s premier league, aiming to make a strong impression in their return.

On the other side, Rewa FC, affectionately known as the Delta Tigers, enters the match with high spirits following their recent triumph in the Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion title against Labasa. Though Rewa has seen the departure of 12 key players to the OFC Pro League, they remain confident in their ability to defend their title, relying on their depth and championship experience to deliver a competitive performance.
