The Victorious People Multi-Purpose Cooperative Ltd, a women-led group based in Tacirua, will launch a product marketing consignment business in June 2026 to help its members sell their goods, officials announced at the opening of the cooperative’s new office and warehouse on Friday. The move marks the first major commercial initiative since the cooperative formed last year and reflects a rapid scaling of operations aimed at linking small-scale producers to broader markets.

Established in September 2025 with 10 founding members, the cooperative has grown to 55 active members in six months, the Ministry of Commerce and Business Development said. Director and registrar of Cooperatives Iosefo Koroidimuri officiated the opening and highlighted the cooperative’s quick expansion as evidence of strong grassroots demand for collective marketing and retail services. The Department of Cooperatives also pledged ongoing guidance as the organisation builds out its new commercial arm.

Financial records disclosed at the launch show the cooperative’s total assets exceed FJ$106,000. Those assets consist of members’ share capital, savings and a loan portfolio that has already benefited 33 members, Mr Koroidimuri said, underlining that the group has a stable base from which to expand operations into trading and logistics. The cooperative is positioning its financial holdings to support both retail activities and the operational costs of a consignment model.

Alongside the June consignment rollout, Victorious People is diversifying into logistics and retail, having invested in a vehicle and a shipping container to strengthen storage and transport capacity. Officials said the new office and warehouse in Tacirua will serve as the hub for receiving member products, storing stock and coordinating deliveries to buyers and retail outlets. The consignment business is intended to reduce the marketing and distribution burden on individual members by pooling resources and centralising sales and promotion.

The cooperative frames these developments as stepping stones toward its stated 2031 goals of economic empowerment and sustainable growth for members. The women-led structure is being presented as a deliberate feature to drive inclusive participation and to broaden income opportunities for women producers in the community. Government representatives attending the opening noted the model aligns with broader efforts to support community-based enterprises and improve market access for small-scale producers.

With the office and warehouse now operational, the cooperative’s immediate focus is preparing systems, stock and partnerships in time for the June launch. If successful, the consignment business could provide a replicable pathway for other cooperatives seeking to transition from savings-and-loans activities into active trading and logistics services, officials said. The Department of Cooperatives will continue to provide technical support as Victorious People implements its marketing and distribution plans.
