Lynda Tabuya, the former Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, will continue to serve as a member of the People’s Alliance and retain her seat in Parliament as part of the Government. This announcement was made by the party’s General Secretary, Sila Balawa, following a thorough examination of a controversial video that circulated on social media, which had previously led to Tabuya’s ministerial dismissal.

Balawa clarified that the investigation found Tabuya did not intentionally release the video and that there was no intention on her part to tarnish the party’s reputation. The decision to investigate was prompted by a complaint lodged within the party, leading to multiple meetings with its internal disciplinary committee.

Tabuya asserts that the video’s dissemination was a calculated effort to undermine her and the People’s Alliance, calling herself a victim of cybercrime, emphasizing an invasion of her privacy, and confirming her report to the police regarding the incident.

Regarding her prior dismissal, Balawa reiterated that the party respects the Prime Minister’s authority in making decisions concerning cabinet members.

This outcome highlights the need for attention to cyber safety and the potential ramifications of digital misconduct. It serves as a reminder of the importance of fairness and due process in handling sensitive situations involving public figures.
