The General Secretary of the People’s Alliance Party has announced that internal procedures are underway to address the situation involving party member and Member of Parliament, Lynda Tabuya. Tabuya was recently removed from her cabinet position after an explicit video of her was leaked and circulated online.

According to Balawa, the disciplinary committee is currently engaged in the process in alignment with the party’s constitution. He emphasized that Tabuya will have the opportunity to present her case to the committee.

The committee operates with a deadline of 21 days to complete its investigation and report back to the party management. Balawa assured that the committee comprises six members, including representation from women, and emphasized the importance of conducting the investigation independently. He noted their commitment to maintaining both the integrity and privacy of the process.

During the recent People’s Alliance Party Executive Committee meeting, which took place both in person and virtually, Party Leader and Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, along with other senior executives, discussed the necessary steps moving forward in handling the case.

This situation underscores the party’s commitment to upholding its internal standards and providing all members with a fair opportunity to address any allegations against them. It reflects a responsible approach to governance, affirming the importance of due process even in challenging circumstances.

In these times, it’s essential for parties to handle such sensitive situations with care, ensuring that all voices are heard, fostering transparency, and ultimately leading to a stronger organizational integrity.
