An elderly woman, Anandi Devi, tragically succumbed to her injuries after suffering a brutal attack at her home in Tabataba, Ba, on December 6. Devi, who was 79 years old, was reportedly assaulted by a 17-year-old boy, an incident that has shocked the close-knit community of Tabataba.
Her son, Ritu Ritesh Ram, expressed his devastation over the loss of his mother, emphasizing that this type of violence was unprecedented in their neighborhood. Family members recounted that Ms. Devi was violently assaulted and stabbed multiple times. Following the attack, she was urgently transported to Lautoka Hospital, where she received treatment in the Intensive Care Unit. Sadly, she passed away last Friday from her injuries, leaving her family and the entire community in mourning.
This tragic event raises concerns about the safety and security of vulnerable individuals in society, particularly the elderly.
