The 9th Fiji Bitter Tabadamu 7s tournament is returning to its original venue at Thompson Park in Navua, aiming to provide a spirited rugby experience closer to the community of Namosi. Previously held at Sigatoka’s Lawaqa Park in 2023 and Nausori’s Ratu Cakobau Park in the last edition, this change seeks to enhance local engagement.

Club president Daniele Cakaunivalu highlighted that the tournament’s fundamental goal remains the same: to promote rugby talent development from rural areas. With the continued support from Fiji Bitter, the initiative has not only opened opportunities for budding rugby players but has also positively impacted local infrastructure.

Noteworthy talents like Joseva Talacolo and Filipe Sauturaga have successfully leveraged this tournament as a stepping stone in their rugby careers. The General Manager of Paradise Beverages, Mike Spencer, recognized the partnership’s value in showcasing the importance of grassroots rugby in fostering community development and nurturing future stars. He affirmed, “Rugby is more than a game in Fiji; it’s a unifier, connecting communities through shared passion.”

The Tabadamu 7s will unfold from February 20 to 22, and this year’s edition reflects a broader commitment from sponsors and organizers to uplift local communities through sports, marking an exciting chapter in Fiji’s rugby journey.

As a promising platform for emerging athletes, this event could spark enthusiasm and strengthen community bonds, illustrating the role of sports in cultural unity and resilience among Fijians.
