SVC’s Hindi Teacher Wins Top National Essay Award

Arti Renuka Mani, a Hindi teacher at Swami Vivekananda College (SVC), has claimed first place in the National Hindi Essay Writing Competition 2024. This event, organized by the Fiji Hindu Society in conjunction with the High Commission of India, was held to commemorate Hindi Diwas and to foster appreciation for the Hindi language and culture.

The competition attracted participants from various parts of Fiji, competing across three categories: Primary School, Secondary School, and Open Category for those aged 18 and above.

Ms. Mani, a fervent supporter of the Hindi language, expressed her pride in this achievement, emphasizing, “Hindi is our identity, and we should never forget our mother language as it is crucial.” As a reward for her victory, she received $200 in cash, a selection of Hindi cultural books, and a USB drive.

In addition, Shriya Mala, a Year 12 student at SVC, earned third place in the secondary school category, securing a $100 prize.

These accomplishments underlined SVC’s commitment to promoting and preserving the Hindi language among its students. Geeta Krishna, the vice principal of SVC, commended the winners, highlighting the pride the school community feels in their successes and the ongoing encouragement for the use and promotion of Hindi across generations.
