Arti Renuka Mani, a Hindi teacher at Swami Vivekananda College (SVC), achieved first place in the National Hindi Essay Writing Competition 2024. The event was organized by the Fiji Hindu Society in partnership with the High Commission of India to celebrate Hindi Diwas and promote appreciation for the Hindi language and culture.
Participants from around Fiji competed in three categories: Primary School, Secondary School, and Open Category (18 years and older). Ms. Mani, who is an enthusiastic supporter of the Hindi language, expressed her pride in this achievement, saying, “Hindi is our identity, and we should never forget our mother language as it is crucial.” She received a cash prize of $200, along with Hindi cultural books and a USB drive.
Additionally, Shriya Mala, a Year 12 student from SVC, secured third place in the secondary school category, earning a $100 prize. These successes emphasize SVC’s commitment to promoting and preserving the Hindi language among its students.
Geeta Krishna, the vice principal of SVC, commended the winners, highlighting the pride the school community feels in their achievements and the ongoing encouragement for the use and promotion of Hindi language across generations.
