Arti Renuka Mani, a Hindi teacher at Swami Vivekananda College (SVC), achieved first place in the National Hindi Essay Writing Competition 2024. This event, organized by the Fiji Hindu Society in partnership with the High Commission of India, celebrated Hindi Diwas and aimed to enhance appreciation for Hindi language and culture.
Participants across Fiji competed in three categories: Primary School, Secondary School, and Open Category for individuals aged 18 and above. Ms. Mani, a strong advocate for the Hindi language, expressed her pride in winning, emphasizing the importance of Hindi as an integral part of their identity. She received $200 in cash, Hindi cultural books, and a USB drive as part of her prizes.
Also, Shriya Mala, a Year 12 student from SVC, secured third place in the secondary school category and won a $100 prize. These accomplishments reflect SVC’s commitment to fostering and preserving the Hindi language among its students.
Geeta Krishna, the vice principal of SVC, commended the winners, highlighting the pride the school community feels in their achievements and their ongoing support for the use and promotion of Hindi through generations.
