Arti Renuka Mani, a Hindi language instructor at Swami Vivekananda College (SVC), has achieved first place in the National Hindi Essay Writing Competition 2024. This event, organized by the Fiji Hindu Society in conjunction with the High Commission of India, was held to celebrate Hindi Diwas and promote appreciation for the Hindi language and culture.
Participants from across Fiji competed in three categories: Primary School, Secondary School, and an Open Category for individuals aged 18 and above. Mani expressed her pride in winning, stating, “Hindi is our identity, and we should never forget our mother language as it is crucial.” She received $200 in cash, Hindi cultural books, and a USB drive as prizes.
Additionally, Shriya Mala, a Year 12 student from SVC, secured third place in the secondary school category, earning a $100 prize. These accomplishments reflect SVC’s commitment to fostering and preserving the Hindi language among its students.
Geeta Krishna, the vice principal of SVC, commended the winners, highlighting that the school community is proud of their achievements and continues to promote the use of Hindi across generations.
