Swami Vivekananda College (SVC) celebrated its 75th platinum jubilee last week, marking a significant milestone since its establishment in 1949. The institution has a long-standing tradition of providing quality education to its students.
The jubilee was themed “Celebrating 75 years of Youth Empowerment and Nation Building,” highlighting the school’s commitment to creating an enriching learning environment for those seeking knowledge and excellence. Education Assistant Minister Iliesa Vanawalu was invited as the chief guest for the celebration.
During the event, Mr. Vanawalu reflected on the significance of the milestone, urging everyone at the institution to uphold its values and achievements. He emphasized SVC’s critical role in delivering quality education to the youth in the local community and its contributions to the development of Malolo, Nadi, and neighboring areas.
He noted, “These incredible 75 years are marked with a profound history, and this celebration is a proud occasion to reflect on the outstanding accomplishments of this institution.” SVC originally opened as Shri Vivekananda High School in 1949 with just 19 students and has since grown to serve over 1,000 students today.
Mr. Vanawalu acknowledged the vision and foresight of the school’s founders, including Swami Rudrananda, A.D. Patel, Sadhu Kuppuswami, and other Sangam leaders, for their pivotal roles in establishing the foundation of the college.
“The theme for this celebration truly reflects the heart and soul of Swami Vivekananda College,” he commented, expressing confidence that many talented students who attended the college have excelled in academics as well as in creative and cultural endeavors. The jubilee celebration was held at the school’s auditorium.
