SVC Celebrates 75 Years of Excellence: A Legacy of Empowerment

Swami Vivekananda College (SVC) recently celebrated its 75th platinum jubilee. Founded in 1949, the institution has been committed to delivering quality education to numerous students over the years. Under the theme “Celebrating 75 Years of Youth Empowerment and Nation Building,” the college has become a nurturing environment for those pursuing knowledge and excellence.

To honor this significant milestone, the college invited Iliesa Vanawalu, the Education Assistant Minister, to serve as the chief guest. During his address, Mr. Vanawalu emphasized the importance of reflecting on the institution’s legacy. He urged attendees to navigate the college’s future while upholding its values and achievements.

“Swami Vivekananda College has consistently offered exceptional educational services to the youth of this community and has played a vital role in the development of Malolo, Nadi, and surrounding areas,” he stated. He further acknowledged the rich history of the past 75 years, highlighting the occasion as a significant opportunity to celebrate the institution’s achievements.

Originally established as Shri Vivekananda High School with just 19 students, the college has since grown to accommodate over 1,000 students, providing essential education and support. Mr. Vanawalu expressed gratitude to the founding members like Swami Rudrananda, A.D. Patel, Sadhu Kuppuswami, and other Sangam leaders for their vision to enrich the community through education.

“The theme of this celebration aptly reflects the essence of Swami Vivekananda College,” he added, noting the many talented students who have contributed to both academic and creative endeavors throughout the years. The jubilee celebration took place at the college auditorium, marking a proud chapter in its storied history.
