TEAM United FC claimed victory as champions of the Church Futsal Brothers competition, held at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva over the weekend. In a tense final match, they triumphed over Jordan United with a score of 2-0, delivering an impressive display that thrilled their supporters.
Shamyen Stanelly Mudaliar, the Media and Production Officer of CFB, expressed appreciation for the successful execution of the event. He emphasized the exciting nature of the futsal matches, the strong sense of sportsmanship, and the peaceful environment that characterized the competition. The unity and camaraderie displayed among churches, both on and off the court, left a profound impact on the organizing Committee.
“By God’s grace, the competition went very well. The weekend was filled with exciting futsal, strong sportsmanship, and a peaceful environment,” said Mudaliar. He noted that the most significant outcome was the unity and fellowship fostered between participating churches, along with the respect shown during the matches.
The tournament saw a robust turnout, featuring 16 competing teams and plenty of spectators who gathered at the FMF Gymnasium. “The main aim is to spread the Word of God and bring churches together in unity. Futsal is the platform, but Jesus is the center gathering believers to celebrate His name, build friendships, and strengthen faith and fellowship,” added Mudaliar.
Among the noteworthy teams was Team Calvary Young Men’s FC from Calvary Temple, which caught the Committee’s attention due to their discipline, positive demeanor, and respect for others. They truly exemplified the core values of unity and fellowship that the Church Futsal Brothers aims to promote.
Looking ahead, the Committee is already gearing up for the next edition of the competition, tentatively planned for the first week of June, pending final arrangements. The overarching goal remains to expand CFB as a platform for churches to unite, fellowship, and glorify Christ.
In closing, the Committee extended their heartfelt thanks to all attendees, acknowledging the contributions of players, churches, supporters, volunteers, referees, and sponsors to an event that transcended mere sports, fostering community and shared faith.
