Albert Park in Suva vibrated with excitement as the city ushered in the new year with a lively celebration on the final night of 2025. The atmosphere was charged with energy as fireworks lit up the night sky and music reverberated throughout the packed park, attracting families and young people from the Central and Western divisions for an unforgettable midnight countdown.
The festivities drew a significant crowd, but despite the large number of attendees, the celebration unfolded in a calm and orderly manner. A strong presence of police officers, security personnel, and ambulances provided a sense of reassurance, contributing to the overall safety and enjoyment of the event.
Akanisi Meo, a resident from Vatukola, expressed her gratitude for the enhanced security measures. “We are here to witness the countdown with our children, and we feel safe being here because the police and ambulance are nearby keeping an eye out,” she shared, highlighting how the strong security presence allowed families to enjoy the night worry-free.
Young attendees echoed this sentiment, noting the efforts made to create a memorable experience. Talei Tikoisuva from Valelevu stated, “This is the third year we’ve been coming for the bash, and this one feels safer because more police are here.”
As the clock struck midnight, a wave of cheers and applause filled the park, marking the arrival of 2026 with joy and optimism. The event not only highlighted a successful celebration but also reflected a community spirit that promises a hopeful and vibrant year ahead.
