The Suva City Council’s redevelopment of Ratu Sukuna Park will cost nearly $7 million, significantly lower than the initial budget of $13 million. This information was disclosed by the Minister for Local Government, Maciu Nalumisa, during an Oral Question session in Parliament, responding to Opposition MP Ioane Naivalurua.
Nalumisa explained that the objective of the project is to transform the park into a modern, multi-functional public space that caters to Suva’s expanding population while adhering to current urban planning principles. He noted that the project is being financed entirely by the Suva City Council.
The Minister also announced that Ratu Sukuna Park is anticipated to open later this month, marking a substantial investment in Suva’s future through the implementation of a smart city initiative.
