On International Volunteer Day, over 60 volunteers from various local and international organizations convened in Suva to emphasize collaboration and community action. The event, held at the JICA Fiji Office, featured participants from institutions including the Peace Corps, United Nations Volunteers (UNV), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Volunteer Service Abroad (VSA), Australian Volunteers International (AVI), France Volontaires, and Selfless Fiji.
The morning session included engaging icebreakers, networking activities, and group discussions focused on sharing good practices and addressing challenges faced in volunteer initiatives. Organizers noted that the event fostered connections among volunteers, enabling them to learn from each other’s experiences.
In the afternoon, the volunteers gathered at Kadavu House and participated in a beach cleanup, walking from the Suva Bowling Club to the FRCS building in Nasese. This initiative highlighted the essential role volunteers play in enhancing community welfare throughout Fiji.
Such collaborative efforts not only promote environmental stewardship but also strengthen community bonds. The dedication shown by these volunteers reflects a shared commitment to creating a positive impact in Fiji, showcasing the power of collective action for a brighter future.
