The Suva Volleyball Association has kicked off the selection process for its Suva team, gearing up for the 2025 season. Team coaches have been closely observing the players during the recently held second phase of the SVA club competition.

According to Jone Baleilomaloma, the games coordinator, a total of 18 teams participated in the competition, divided into eight teams in the men’s premier grade and ten in the A grades. After successfully completing the initial phase of club games, the association has launched this second phase, which will continue for three weeks.

The competition is intense, as teams strive to secure favorable positions and rankings crucial for their advancement to the upcoming knockout rounds. Baleilomaloma noted the fierce competition within the premier grades, indicating that A-grade teams are finding it challenging to win matches as they move up. This level of competition reflects the growing talent in the league.

The community’s support has been outstanding, with teams passionately representing their neighborhoods and showcasing active participation and enthusiasm. Selection for players to represent the Suva Volleyball Association in the sanctioned tournament in 2025 began earlier this week, with coaches actively engaging with players and other team coaches to discuss selections.

The primary focus of the association is to cultivate young talent to represent Suva well and form a strong squad by 2025. Encouragingly, with good weather conditions on their side, the Suva Volleyball Association is optimistic about a successful and thrilling season ahead.

This initiative not only aims to develop the players but also strengthens community ties through volleyball, fostering teamwork and sportsmanship among local teams. As the selection process continues, the future looks bright for both the association and its players.
