Sydney Suva kicked off its tournament in the Rams Group of Companies 10th Sanatan World Cup on a positive note, securing a 1-0 victory against Labasa. Midfielder Nickel Chand scored the only goal of the match with a header from a corner in the second half.
The Suva team featured notable players including national goalkeeper Jerome Narayan, Captain Kishan Sami, Muni Shivam Naisu, Merrill Nand, and brothers Lachlan and Marcus Lal. On the other hand, Labasa had key players such as brothers Anish Khem and Ashnil Raju, along with Navua representatives Matthew Charitar, Brian Charitar, Vinal Prasad, and Jasnit Vikash.
After a closely contested first half, Suva managed to secure the win through Chand’s goal and held firm defensively to maintain their lead until the final whistle.
