Suva Touch Rugby Kicks Off 2025 Season with Exciting Changes!

The Suva Touch Rugby Association has officially launched its 2025 season at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School in Suva. This year’s competition will feature a round-robin format for both men’s and mixed teams, marking a change from the previous system of separate pools for matches. The tournament is set to take place every Saturday over the next nine weeks, leading up to an international tournament scheduled for November.

Jalesi Young, the association president, shared his enthusiasm for the season’s kickoff and noted a significant rise in participant numbers. He highlighted the season as a critical platform for local athletes, fostering community involvement through sports. Young also praised the involvement of officers from the Fiji Corrections Service, who took part in the season opener by engaging with the youth and stressing the positive impacts of sports on decision-making and community engagement.

The event’s collaborative atmosphere not only boosts local youth participation but also aligns with ongoing efforts among various sports organizations in Fiji to nurture local talent and encourage active lifestyles. This initiative underscores a commitment to utilizing sports as a means of fostering community cohesion and youth development.

With robust community support, the Suva Touch Rugby Association is set to play a significant role in the growth of Fiji’s sports sector, exemplifying how sports can unite communities and provide a platform for future generations to excel.
