Suva business owners can expect enhanced safety measures soon as the Suva City Council (SCC) is set to install 40 advanced CCTV cameras throughout the central business district in response to rising concerns about crime. SCC chairman Tevita Boseiwaqa announced that a tender for the installation was advertised on January 4, 2025.

The CCTV system will leverage cutting-edge technology akin to systems used in various Australian locations, focusing on identifying known offenders already on the Fiji Police Force’s radar. The planned coverage will extend from Nabukalou Bridge to Walu Bay Bridge, encompassing crucial commercial areas.
