Suva Swifts IGA claimed the title of champions in the 2024 Finance Hub Super League after defeating Lautoka Stars with a score of 69-35 at the FNU Gymnasium in Nasinu on Saturday. The Swifts showcased impressive power and energy throughout the match, overpowering their Western rivals, who struggled to keep up with the high level of play demonstrated by the Swifts.
The game saw both teams putting forth their best efforts from the beginning, but as the final quarter approached, it became increasingly clear that the Swifts would secure the victory.
In other matches, the Baby Pearls Kikau team achieved a significant victory against the Nadroga Stallions, winning 61-28. The Kikau team held a strong lead from the first quarter, ultimately finishing with a 33-point advantage, which positions them in fifth place.
Additionally, the Tailevu Doves triumphed over the Nadi Netball team with a final score of 30-20, boosting their ranking to seventh place. After the match, Doves president Seini Soroacagi indicated that the win would motivate the team to enhance their preparations for the upcoming season.
As the women’s teams showcased their skills, the national men’s netball teams also competed in a match that took place before the final between Suva Swifts IGA and Lautoka Stars.
