Sydney Suva kicked off its campaign in the Rams Group of Companies 10th Sanatan World Cup with a strong start, securing a 1-0 victory over Labasa.
The decisive goal came from midfielder Nickel Chand, who headed in the only score of the match midway through the second half from a corner kick.
Sydney Suva featured notable players, including national goalkeeper Jerome Narayan, Captain Kishan Sami, Muni Shivam Naisu, Merrill Nand, and brothers Lachlan and Marcus Lal.
Labasa, meanwhile, relied on the talents of brothers Anish Khem and Ashnil Raju, alongside Navua representatives Matthew Charitar, Brian Charitar, Vinal Prasad, and Jasnit Vikash.
After a tightly contested first half, Suva managed to secure the victory thanks to Chand’s goal and held off any attempts from Labasa to equalize, defending resolutely until the final whistle.
