Suva Set for This is Boxing: High-Stakes Showdowns in Fiji

Excitement is mounting as the Stratum Zeg Kings “This is Boxing” event approaches, scheduled for next Saturday at the Vodafone Arena in Suva. Promoter Naroon Buksh has shared that assembling a compelling fight card has been a substantial challenge, primarily due to financial constraints associated with bringing in international fighters.

Despite these hurdles, Buksh remains optimistic, thanks to the strong support from sponsors, enabling a line-up that promises to showcase some of the finest boxing talent the country has to offer. “Especially when we have overseas boxers, the airfare is usually expensive. There are plenty of other things that come into play, such as the venues and hiring workers. It’s not easy to bring about,” Buksh explained.

The event will be aired live on VitiPlus, allowing fans not in attendance to experience the action. With multiple championship matchups on the card, boxing enthusiasts are encouraged to come out in large numbers for what is expected to be an electrifying evening of sports.

Building on the momentum of previous successful events, Buksh emphasized how such high-profile matches not only engage current fans but also inspire budding talents. The infusion of international competition into the local boxing scene underscores the potential for the sport to thrive in the region, sparking hope for future development and recognition of local athletes.

In light of this exciting lineup, this event highlights the spirit of boxing in Fiji and serves as a vital opportunity for fighters to elevate their careers. The forthcoming evening promises not just a display of athletic prowess but also aims to strengthen community support and appreciation for boxing within Fiji.
