“Suva Secures Spot in 2024 Battle of the Giants Tournament Despite League Position”

Suva has automatically qualified for the 2024 Battle of the Giants tournament, which will be held at the HFC Stadium later this month, despite being ninth in the Digicel Premier League standings. This advantage is granted by their position as the host team, irrespective of their league ranking.

Meanwhile, Nasinu and Tailevu Naitasiri will not be competing in the tournament. Nasinu managed to climb to eighth place following their recent 1-0 victory over Ba in Round 12, but this was not enough to secure a spot in the tournament.

The eight teams that have qualified for the Battle of the Giants are Rewa and Labasa, both leading with 27 points, followed by Lautoka with 19 points, Ba and Nadi with 18 points each, Navua with 17 points, Nadroga with 14 points, and the hosts Suva with 9 points.

The official pool draw for the tournament is slated for later this week, with the group stages scheduled to take place from July 26-28. The knockout stages will be held a week later, all at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
