A tragic road accident claimed the life of a primary school student on Khalsa Rd in Suva yesterday morning. Authorities believe the young boy was on his way to school when the unfortunate incident took place.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed that the student sustained severe injuries after being struck by a vehicle driven by a 25-year-old man. Despite being rushed to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Naisoro stated that the victim was standing at the roadside when he was hit by the car. Following the accident, the driver is set to be questioned by police as part of the investigation into the incident.

This incident serves as a sobering reminder of the need for heightened road safety awareness, particularly in school zones where children are often present. As the community mourns the loss of this young life, it hopes for a thorough investigation that may bring some clarity to this tragic event.
