A bouncer implicated in a nightclub altercation that occurred early yesterday in Suva has been taken into police custody. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, confirmed that police are actively pursuing several individuals connected to the incident and are continuing their search for additional suspects.

Driu urged the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands, emphasizing the importance of allowing law enforcement to handle the situation. “All those making threats on social media need to stay calm. Emotions are still high at the moment, and we are calling on parties involved to remain composed. Taking matters into your own hands won’t resolve anything; it will only escalate the situation,” he stated.

Furthermore, a team of officers from Totogo Police Station visited Namatakula Village to gather statements from those involved and witnesses to the brawl. Driu encouraged cooperation from the community, asking individuals to provide statements and evidence to aid the investigation. He also reassured the public that police would keep a close watch on social media activity to prevent any further unrest.

In light of the upcoming New Year celebrations, ACP Driu reiterated that the police will be vigilant in ensuring the safety of all citizens.

This incident highlights the critical need for community cooperation and the role of law enforcement in maintaining peace, especially during high-emotion times. By working together and exercising patience, the community can contribute to a more peaceful resolution.
