Suva Grammar School staged an impressive comeback in the second half to clinch a thrilling 27-24 victory over Lelean Memorial School during the quarterfinals of the Vodafone Deans U18 rugby championship.

Lelean Memorial had initially dominated the match, with Akapusi Nadavo and Asesela Volaukitoga both crossing the line for early tries that set the tone for their performance. Despite their strong start, Suva Grammar managed to respond just before halftime through a try from Ratu Paula Vonolagi, although they still trailed at the break.

The second half saw a remarkable shift in momentum as Suva Grammar tightened their defense and began to exploit weaknesses in Lelean’s formation. Hooker Viliame Daurua brought the game closer by scoring, and as the pressure mounted, Suva Grammar seized control to turn the match around in the final moments. They maintained composure to secure a narrow three-point victory, underscoring their resilience and determination.

This win not only marks an important victory for Suva Grammar but also continues their momentum in the tournament, having previously shown strong performances in earlier stages of the Vodafone Deans competition. The team, celebrating their triumphs, has become known for their fighting spirit, which has endeared them to fans and supporters alike.

Looking ahead, the team’s ability to adapt and overcome challenges bodes well for their future matches in the tournament, potentially paving the way for greater successes in the coming rounds.
