Suva Grammar School has successfully secured a place in the semi-finals of the Vodafone Deans Championship for all five of its age-grade teams, a significant achievement during its 65th anniversary. The quarter-finals were held recently, showcasing the school’s strong performance across various categories.
The Under-14 team dominated their match against Saint Vincent College, winning decisively with a score of 41-8. The Under-15 squad followed suit, narrowly defeating Ratu Navula College with a score of 17-13, demonstrating their resilience in close games. The Under-16 team showcased exceptional skill, overpowering Holy Cross College with an impressive 46-3 victory.
Amidst the excitement, the Under-17 team triumphed over Gurunanak Khalsa College from Labasa, winning 41-12, while the Under-18 team clinched a thrilling 27-24 victory against Lelean Memorial School. This closely contested match saw fullback Semi Solovani score a vital penalty in the dying moments, affirming the team’s commitment to teamwork. “We have been reminded to work together as a team from day one, and that keeps pushing us. This year is Suva Grammar School’s 65th anniversary, so we want to win for that and make our Grammar family proud,” Solovani expressed.
