Suva Futsal celebrated an impressive conclusion to the 2024 season by successfully defending the Extra Supermarket Inter-District Championship title, achieving a decisive 6-2 victory over Lautoka in the grand finale at Vodafone Arena. This title retention, coupled with their earlier triumph in the Futsal League, solidifies Suva’s status as the top futsal team in the nation.
In the final match, standout performances were delivered by Krishneel Singh and Aman Naidu, both of whom scored two goals, while Deepal Singh and Justin Kumar each added one to the scoreboard. Lautoka’s two goals were credited to Aporosa Yada, who finished the tournament as the top scorer with a remarkable 13 goals.
Head coach Vivek Nadan expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, particularly after a previous loss to Ba during pool play. He stated, “I am really happy with the win today… We told the boys it was better to lose a match in pool play rather than the eliminations and go out.” This strategy paid off as the team made a powerful comeback to secure victory, demonstrating resilience and determination.
In the women’s category, Rewa Futsal also secured the Women’s Futsal IDC title, showcasing excellence in the sport.
